Odds and Ends

  • We are so excited to begin this new school year! Click here for school supply lists.
  • A Letter from Mrs. Luhn

    Dear Children and Parents,

What an exciting year we have ahead of us here at Algood Elementary School! As we embark on this new adventure I would like to take this opportunity to share the goal of Mrs. Ramsey, myself, and the entire staff. In the coming months my guidance classes will center on Sean Convey's book titled The Seven Habits of Happy Kids. These habits include being proactive or simply stated "you're in charge", have a plan, work first, then play, everyone can win, listen before you talk, together is better, and finally balance is best. The entire school will be striving to help each child achieve these habits by personal example and daily discussion. It is our hope that these wonderful habits will be carried into your home environments as well.

As we embark on this journey I invite everyone to come to my guidance classes and learn with your child the 7 Habits of Happy Children. I'm looking forward to a fun, informative, and exciting adventure into the land of Goob Bear, Lily Skunk, Sammy Squirrel, Sophie Squirrel, Pokey Porcupine, and Tagalong Allie, with occasional help from Ernie the worm. I will post letters on my website to help keep you informed at home as to what our lesson will be each week/month and ways that parents can encourage our little ones to continue with their "Happy Habits".

As always, if you have questions or concerns or just simply want to help out please contact me and all questions will be answered and visits will be encouraged. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in the very near future.

    Sincerely,

    Sherron Luhn
    Algood Elementary Counselor
